Shame on you Bishop, the trial was not about stand your ground. The trial was about one man defending his life against another man trying to take it. Shame on you for using your pulpit for politics. Jesus did not get involved in the politics of Rome. You are no better than Jesse Jackson, you are fanning the flames of unrest!

What a teachable moment! The Gospel lectionary reading was perfect last Sunday: the story Jesus shared of the man left for dead on the Jericho Road and eventually loved by a stranger, a Samaritan. The very mention of the events of the trial and verdict moved the conversation in Church against the background of this reading to a new place. Who is my neighbor?
